Well the year has finally begun and it is the first day of Kindergarten for your child. I am so excited to be teaching your child this year and would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kim Meeuwsen and this is my sixth year of teaching and I am so honored to have been hired by the Sherwood School District and Middleton Elementary. I graduated from Oregon State University in 2006 with a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. Immediately following graduation I began my Master’s in Teaching Program at Pacific University and graduated in June 2007. My husband Kevin and I currently reside in Beaverton and we recently celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary together.
I love the Kindergarten age group and know this year will be full of joy and excitement for the children, their families, the school and I. This year is just the beginning of a life of learning and we as a team have a goal to make this year as fun and enriching as possible. I truly look forward to developing a relationship with each individual child and getting to know their friends and family that support them each and every day. I am very welcoming to volunteers in the classroom and enjoy having helpers in our room. Additional details concerning volunteering will become available shortly.
I will be writing a weekly newsletter and sending it home with the children in their Friday folders. These newsletters are the way for me to communicate general information with you about what our class is accomplishing and what’s to come in the upcoming weeks. Please feel free to call or e-mail anytime with questions or concerns that you may have about our class or your child.
I look forward to a great year and I cannot wait to get started!
