Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! I am so excited to begin working with your children!
Today is a very exciting day! It’s the first day of Kindergarten for your
child. I am so happy and excited to be
your child’s teacher and I’d love to introduce myself. My name is Katie Goodman and I am coming
back to Middleton for my seventh year.
Before that I took seven years off to be home with my children. I have a 17 year old daughter named Kayla who
is entering her senior year and I have a 14 year old son named Jeff who is entering 9th grade. Both my kids attend Southridge High School in Beaverton. I also have a wonderful husband named
Rob and four kitties named Abbey, Squiggles, Howie, and Henry.
Before I took some time off to be home with my
children, I taught in Palo Alto,
California. I taught first and second grade and did
several summer school programs with Kindergartners for a little over seven
years. We moved to Portland in 2001 when my husband took a job
here. We love Oregon!
I am so excited to teach and to be working at such an amazing school!
I love teaching Kindergarten! I know what a special year this is for you
and your child and my goal is to make it as fun and as enriching as possible. I am looking forward to getting to know each
and every one of you and developing a relationship with you and your
child. I am excited about having
classroom volunteers and welcome all the helpers who want to be a part of our
classroom. Look for more information to
come on volunteering shortly.
I will be writing newsletters every other week and
working with my Kindergarten colleagues to develop curriculum that is exciting
and engaging. Look for more information to
come on what we are going to be doing in class!
Please let me know if you have any concerns and special information you
would like me to know about your child.
Kindergarten is a big transition for these little ones and I want to
make it as smooth and comfortable as possible.
I look forward to a great
year and I can’t wait to get started!
